Laptop Power UK Enters Into Recycling Agreement with DS Smith - Ensuring Over 50 Tonnes of Recycled Material per Year

As a distributor of OEM spare parts for consumer electronics devices, Laptop Power UK produces a large quantity of excess high-grade cardboard which of course can easily be recycled. They always wanted to recycle all paper and cardboard produced by their business operations. Unfortunately, a few small local recycling companies take them down through a lack of professionalism. As a result, they have now partnered with DS Smith and have been very pleased with the results.
At present, Laptop Power UK is producing in excess of 50 tonnes of recycled cardboard per year and this number is likely to keep on rising. The cardboard is from packaging materials used to house electrical spare parts and also the protective materials used to transport laptops and tablets needing repair. The cardboard produced is typically of very high and dense quality, resulting in greater yields for the recycling company. Besides, a representative, MR. Craig Alexander from Laptop Power UK mentions, “Getting rebates for this flow of cardboard has followed straight through down to our bottom line. It is not a key source of revenue for the Company, but it is good to know that we are generating significant revenue from it whilst remaining compliant with our recycling responsibilities.”
As repair volumes and part distribution volumes continue to grow, there is expectation at Laptop Power UK that recycling volumes will exceed 80 tonnes by the end of 2015. At these levels, they would be getting towards the position where some companies would be looking at investing in a baler. However, this is not a direction they want to go in as a business. They intend to remain fully focused on what they do well as a business.
