Using the latest in FDA approved technology the surgeons at Laser Eye Center have performed over 200,000 LASIK surgeries.

The organization Prevent Blindness America sponsors March as Workplace Eye Wellness month, with the hopes of educating the workforce about preventative eye care. As Southern California’s leading facility for refractive surgery, Laser Eye Center is putting the preventative advice to good use by helping their own employees follow the quick and easy guidelines.

According to Prevent Blindness America, reducing eyestrain is the first step towards warding off visual impairments. Since the majority of the workforce now relies on computers, eyestrain is becoming more prevalent. To help with this, Laser Eye Center is following the organization’s tips:

-Optimal placement of your screen is 20-26 inches from your eyes, and slightly below eye level.

-Minimize head movement and cut down on refocusing your eyes repeatedly. Invest in a document holder to have next to your computer.

-Make sure the glare and reflections are minimal on your screen. You can either change the lighting on your computer or purchase a glare filter.

-Have a chair that is adjustable.

-Screens and keyboards that adjust, tilt and swivel are the best investment.

“We try to follow these guidelines year-round and educate our own patients as well, but Workplace Eye Wellness Month is a great reminder. Even for our patients who have had LASIK, it is important to practice healthy eye habits like these," explains Dr. Shammas, lead surgeon at Laser Eye Center. LASIK surgery is the most popular procedure at Laser Eye Center and their surgeons have over 25 years of experience. Using the latest in FDA approved technology the surgeons at Laser Eye Center have performed over 200,000 LASIK surgeries. LASIK is an outpatient procedure that corrects varying degrees of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

The Laser Eye Center offers free consultations to patients who are considering getting LASIK. In the initial visit patients can find out if they are eligible for LASIK, and learn about the most advanced technology available for the procedure.
