Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) August 31, 2015 -- Sunshine Coast Health Center (http://www.sunshinecoasthealthcentre.ca/), a non 12-step drug rehabilitation and alcohol treatment center in British Columbia, Canada, is proud to announce its support of a new book by Elisabeth Lukas, entitled, 'From Fate to Freedom.' Elisabeth Lukas is an Austrian psychotherapist and clinical psychologist, known for her affiliation with the ideas of Viktor Frankl, the founder of logotherapy.
"Our philosophy to combat drug and alcohol addiction is based on the methods of Viktor Frankl and meaning-centered therapy as opposed to the more common 12-step approaches to drug rehabilitation and alcohol treatment in Canada," explained Daniel Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer. "This new book by Dr. Lukas will be innovative not only in its ideas, but in its use of the Internet, namely Kickstarter, for funding. We supported the book through a donation to the program."

Elisabeth Lukas trained under Viktor Frankl, who survived horrific concentration camp experiences to write Man's Search for Meaning. Frankl is also known for logotherapy, healing through meaning. Dr. Lukas established a psychology practice and training institute in Germany.
In the early 1990s, Dr. Lukas published a book in honor of Frankl's 80th birthday, Psychologische Seelsorge, intended to be a psychological equivalent to Frankl’s book Ärztliche Seelsorge, (in English, The Doctor and the Soul). Though Lukas’ book was translated into English, only a handful of dot-matrix, xeroxed copies were distributed. Though the original German book is now in its third edition, it has never been published in English. In fact, though Lukas has dozens of titles in print in the German language, only two are currently available in English.
The project to update the translation and to support the book's publication via Kickstarter was launched on July 25, 2015. Sunshine Coast Health Centre is proud to be among the financial backers of this important project.
