As a premium, luxury crossover utility vehicle (CUV), first half of the year sales have blown away industry analysts estimates with over 12,000 units sold. The five-seat Buick Encore offers both front-wheel and all-wheel drive options, with a 138-horsepower turbo charged 1.4 liter four-cylinder engine. It has 6-speed automatic transmission, 18” aluminum wheels, and snags 25 mph in the city and 33 on highways.
“For a second year model, the Encore has attracted quite a loyal fan base,” says Scott McCorkle, owner of Liberty Buick GMC in Matthews and Charlotte. “The 2014 Encore meets the market need for a smaller luxurious car that mixes elements of a hatchback and a crossover. We’ve been able to fill orders and have a variety of Encore options in stock for our customers,” he added.
One of the more unique features of the 2014 Encore is flexible interior configuration. The back seat flips and folds down, and so does the front passenger seat giving owners 48.4 cubic ft of cargo space with the back seat folded down. This makes it far more useful as a small hatchback, but with the upgraded features of a premium vehicle.
New for 2014, the Encore now offers drivers a blind spot warning system and rear cross-traffic alerts. Other interior features include IntelliLink multimedia system with 7-inch screen, USB connectivity and MP3 jack, cloth or leather seat options, heated front seats and steering wheel, and dual zone automatic air-conditioning.
The 2014 Encore exterior offers automatic halogen headlights with blue accent rings, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, roof rails and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
