The 2013 International Wine and Grape Juice Competition was a success for Weathervane Winery. Four wines from the Weathervane Winery went home with medals.

Lexington’s Weathervane Winery won awards at the 25th Annual Florida State Fair International Wine and Grape Juice Competition. The competition took place at the Florida State Fair Grounds in Tampa and included 811 entered wines.

2013’s competition brought home awards for four of Weathervane’s wines. Their Nor’Easter, an estate Chambourcin with medium body, and aged in oak won Silver. Wines made with Chambourcin grapes often pair well with dark chocolate. The Green Apple Dew wine also won silver. The Sunset Red, a merlot with soft full flavor laced with oak to enhance fruitiness, won the Bronze. The Strawberry Breeze also won Bronze. The Strawberry Breeze is a light wine with notes of fresh-picked strawberry, and flavors of floral Riesling and tropical fruit. This wine can also be served cold for an even more refreshing experience.
