Local Dermatologist Excited to Return Home to Practice
Belton, TX (PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- Starting August 5, 2015, Weilan Johnson, MD, will serve the residents of Belton and Round Rock as part of Dermatology Associates of Central Texas.
“It has always been one of my goals to come back and serve the community that I was raised in,” says Dr. Johnson, born on Ft. Hood and raised in Temple, TX. “I think it is really rewarding. I’m looking forward to giving back as a physician treating patients and also to the entire community.”
After her childhood, Dr. Johnson sought out the best education possible, in order to become a qualified and competent dermatologist. Dr. Johnson was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, completing her degree with a 4.0 GPA. She received her Doctor of Medicine Degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 2011. Dr. Johnson completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas and most recently, completed a residency in Dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center in Palo Alto, California.
“One of the personal goals I had was to get the absolute best education possible,” says Dr. Johnson. “It was such a unique opportunity to work with those at the forefront of medical education.”
Dr. Johnson has published in peer reviewed dermatology journals and presented at regional dermatology meetings, but is now excited to get settled back at home with her husband and family.
“Our families are both still in the area, and it was important for us to go back and be near them,” says Dr. Johnson. She met her husband growing up in Temple, and he recently celebrated eight years as a firefighter and paramedic for Killeen. “We have always thought of Central Texas as our home.”
Dr. Johnson will see patients in two locations, providing comprehensive dermatology care for all age groups.
“I really pride myself on providing individualized treatment plans tailored to each individual’s needs or wants,” says Dr. Johnson. “Beyond my excellent education, I really try to treat a condition by taking into account the person’s overall needs and goals.”
