Rockville, MD (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- On March 6, over 200 distinguished guests, including Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, government officials, community members, and business leaders are expected to join Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless at Home Sweet Home: Celebrating Partnerships 2014 Gala, a fundraising event to honor MCCH partners’ invaluable contributions toward ending homelessness in Montgomery County, Maryland. DARCARS Automotive Group Vice President Tamara Darvish and ABC7/WJLA-TV news anchor Leon Harris will co-emcee. County Executive Isiah Leggett and Mrs. Leggett are honorary co-chairs.

MCCH’s gala aims to not only honor those who have made significant contributions toward ending homelessness, but also to raise awareness of the issue of homelessness and celebrate the strides being made to end local homelessness. In recent months MCCH has partnered with Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and many other government agencies, nonprofits, and organizations for the Montgomery County 100,000 Homes Campaign with the goal of housing the County’s most medically vulnerable homeless individuals. The County Council awarded MCCH a $640,000 supplemental appropriation to house, with deep services, at least 15 of these vulnerable individuals. Montgomery County Council President Craig Rice, who will receive the Distinguished Service Award at MCCH’s gala, was one of the many volunteers who surveyed homeless individuals during the Campaign’s Registry Week.

“Our gala honorees continue to show that there is a true commitment to ending homelessness in the County. They are all outstanding examples of what it means to be an advocate for ending homelessness,” says MCCH Executive Director Susie Sinclair-Smith.
