Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) August 01, 2012
Motio today announced the latest release of MotioPI, its popular tool for IBM Cognos administrators and power users. The new 2.7 release broadens the appeal of MotioPI and MotioPI Professional by providing additional capabilities targeted at IBM Cognos report authors.
“MotioPI has historically been very popular among Cognos administrators,” said Matt Thibeau, MotioPI Product Manager. “In the latest release, we’ve begun to unveil a series of enhancements which will appeal to Cognos report authors - especially those that need to author and maintain a large number of reports.”
The 2.7 release features a new Templatizer panel for better management of common content across multiple reports, additional Search & Replace capabilities, and support for PowerPlay 8.
This new Templatizer panel equips Cognos report authors with a faster and more efficient method for managing common elements across a large number of reports. Manually editing the same or similar content across many reports can often be a tedious and inefficient process. The Templatizer panel makes it easy for Cognos report authors to replicate common fragments such as headers, footers, prompt pages and conditional styles across a large number of Cognos reports.
“The Templatizer will be appealing to any report author who’s ever had to manually apply the same or similar changes across many reports,” said Lance Hankins, CTO of Motio. “This panel makes it very easy to safely replicate fragments across an entire series of Cognos reports. The Templatizer can save huge amounts of time, and makes it much easier to apply standards and consistency across a large amount of Cognos content.”
The 2.7 release also includes a series of enhancements to MotioPI Professional’s Search & Replace panel. Search & Replace operations can now be applied to objects both inside and outside of the Cognos Content Store. This means PI users can batch update offline content such as XML files, CPF files, framework models, PowerPlay reports, and transformer models, expanding the usefulness of this popular panel. The Search & Replace user interface has also undergone a facelift to make the user experience more intuitive and navigable.
MotioPI debuted in early 2009 as a free, community driven tool aimed at empowering IBM Cognos administrators. Motio has repeatedly affirmed its commitment to keeping MotioPI free.
MotioPI Professional is the commercial big-brother of MotioPI, which enables Cognos administrators to manage content and configuration en-masse. The professional version starts at just $995 per user.
