Mount Kisco Medical Group and Northern Westchester Hospital Now Enrolling Patients in Breast Cancer Clinical Trial
Westchester County, NY (PRWEB) June 24, 2014 -- The Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Northern Westchester Hospital is now enrolling patients for a clinical research study investigating the use of palbociclib (PD-0332991), a CDK 4/6 inhibitor being investigated for advanced stage breast cancer. CDK proteins can be involved in promoting the growth of cancer cells. Medications that block the activity of these proteins have shown promising activity in preliminary cancer clinical trials.
The Cancer Treatment and Wellness Center at Northern Westchester Hospital was one of the first sites in the world to have this Phase 3 study available to patients. This specific trial is evaluating the effectiveness of palbociclib when used in combination with fulvestrant in women with hormone receptor positive, Her-2 negative metastatic breast cancer that has progressed after prior endocrine therapy.
