Naked Wines, a customer funded online wine business, was ranked the 14th Best Small Company to Work For in the UK 2013, in the prestigious Sunday Times Top 100 list.
They were also awarded a “Three Star Accreditation” standard by Best Companies, a Michelin-style ranking given to companies who demonstrate an ‘extraordinary focus on Workplace Engagement as an integral component of an organisations success and growth.’
Founder and CEO Rowan Gormley, who launched the business just over four years ago, was delighted with the news:

Naked Wines employs 60 staff in their UK Norwich office - and ship an average of 20,000 bottles a day to their 120,000 members, who invest over £2million a month towards future orders.

What we’re all about
Naked Wines was born in December 2008 when twelve friends jacked in their jobs during the depth of the recession to do things a little differently. Our goal: Find the world’s most talented, undiscovered winemakers and set them up in business.
How we go about it:
- 120,000 customers invest over £2m a month towards future orders (we call them ‘Angels’)
- Which we use to fund independent winemakers
- In return for exclusive wines at wholesale prices
- Which we pass back to our customers
We call it the ‘virtuous circle’, as everybody gets more for less, without trampling on anyone along the way.
