New Career Key Infographic Highlights Critical College and Career Readiness Mindsets and Behaviors for Student Success
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) September 24, 2015 -- Career guidance leader Career Key, http://www.careerkey.org, has released a new infographic for school counselors highlighting some of the critical college and career readiness mindsets and behaviors for student success developed by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
According to ASCA, “ ‘ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors for Student Success: K-12 College and Career Readiness Standards for Every Student’ describes the knowledge, skills and attitudes students need to achieve academic success, college and career readiness, and social/emotional development.”
In the infographic, counselors see at a glance the mindsets and behaviors from the Career Development Domain students cover in a classroom activity taking the Career Key test, a valid career interest inventory based on Holland’s Theory. Career Key takes an informal approach to the standards, giving them labels like “[f]ind my tribe” and “[e]xpanding my universe.”
This is a good time of year to consider college and career readiness as students are choosing classes and career pathways. Choosing a rigorous curriculum and getting good grades in one’s classes are some of the most important characteristics of being “college and career ready.” An accurate career assessment like the Career Key is a big help in making the right choices. In about 10-15 minutes, Career Key helps students discover their strongest personality types, compatible interest areas, and career goals to help inform those choices.
