New Edition Of Popular “RTI In Action” Book An Essential Resource For Speech-Language Pathologists And Educators
Rockville, MD (PRWEB) August 27, 2013 -- Following up on a very popular first edition, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) has published a new book: RTI in Action, Grades 3–5: Oral and Written Language Activities for the Common Core State Standards. This practical resource is designed to help school-based professionals foster critical oral language and literacy skills in their students, positioning them for future success in college and the workplace.
The first edition of the book, published in 2010, has proven to be an indispensable tool for professionals working with students on foundational oral language skills in Grades K–2. Both the first edition and the new book utilize the widely recognized Response to Intervention (RTI) model of academic support for at-risk students. RTI is a multi-tiered approach to helping struggling learners by delivering services at increasing levels of intensity. RTI involves universal screening, high-quality instruction matched to student need, frequent progress monitoring, and the use of child response data to make educational decisions.
RTI in Action, Grades 3–5 boasts more than 200 ready-to-use activities in the classroom; content is organized by grade level as well as by the three tiers of RTI. The activities correspond to all of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English language arts, which cover reading, writing, speaking and listening, and language. The CCSS in English language arts and mathematics was developed through a state-led effort to establish a single set of clear educational standards for kindergarten through 12th grade; adoption of the CCSS is voluntary.
