New ONC Site Includes APP Design's Story Engine Solution to Address Meaningful Consent
Itasca, IL (PRWEB) October 03, 2013 -- The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released the new Meaningful Consent site this September. According to their recent press release, "the site includes background, lessons learned, videos and customizable tools from the eConsent pilot project" completed this past Spring. "The pilot project tested the use of tablet computers to inform patients about options available to them when they consider whether to electronically share their health information through HIE."

The company's Story Engine solution delivers multimedia educational materials to address patient concerns regarding the sharing of health information through an HIE. Authoring tools allow authors to choose multimedia content as well as design custom paths through the material in order to vary delivered content to audience members based on their experience, subject knowledge and interest.

Additionally, during the pilot project, APP Design's e-consent application identified patients in the health information exchange database and associated health records with patient consent decisions. The tablet allowed patients to "sign" the form electronically. The system then stored the consent decision in the HIE for review and later retrieval.
