New Roads’ Filmmaking Master Class Brings Award-Winning Film Professionals to Moss Theater Sept. 25th and Oct. 22nd
Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) September 22, 2013 -- New Roads School, through a collaboration with the non-profit Live Arts Group, will host a two-part filmmaking master class presented by five industry professionals with credits that include Grey’s Anatomy, Sons’ of Anarchy and Lord of the Rings, to name a few. Open to the general public as well as to students in New Roads’ expanding Media Arts and Film programs, the presentations will be held at New Roads School’s Moss Theater, 3131 Olympic Boulevard, Santa Monica. There is no charge to attend.
This year, more than 100 students are enrolled in various film classes at New Roads Secondary School (grades 6-12). “In addition to exploring the aesthetic, historical and artistic aspects of film, our curriculum exposes students to the full range of behind-the-scenes professions in the movie industry - from camera operation and editing, to production and scoring, to animation and effects,” said Michelle Bernstein, Chair of the Film Department at New Roads Secondary School. “Our collaboration this year with Live Arts Group presents a unique opportunity for our students to learn directly from people working at the highest levels of filmmaking. We are delighted to be able to make the master classes available to the public as well.” A graduate of both the American Film Institute and Chapman Univesity, Michelle has directed dozens of short films and documentaries that have won awards and acclaim in various film festivals.
Michelle will moderate the interactive panel discussions, focusing primarily on pre-production tips for student filmmakers. The sessions will be driven by pre-scripted questions from students and an open-form “Q&A” with audience members. Details and registration information below:
