Nonprofit, Hope For The Warriors, Connects Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants to Fallen Soldier’s Daughters for Special Needs Schooling Donation
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- Thousands of children attend school each year, many without realizing what a gift they have in a free education. However, one family in the Charlotte area knows who to thank for their special needs education. Southeast Anesthesiologist Consultants donated $5,000 to Hope For The Warriors® to help fund special schooling for Isabelle and Abby, daughters of Captain David J. Thompson, a fallen soldier. This donation was arranged through Hope For The Warriors®., a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
Thompson was killed in action in 2010 after serving more than 21 years in the Army and National Guard. Thompson himself struggled with dyslexia, a development reading disorder, and always hoped to send his daughters to a school that could better support their special learning needs. After he was killed in combat, his wife continued her search for the best education for Isabelle and Abby, who are currently homeschooled.
“Our physicians and staff are honored to be able to support this military family, whose sacrifice was so profound,” said Josh Miller, MD, Southeast Anesthesiology’s medical director. “We hope our gift will be helpful to Isabelle and Abby’s education, but perhaps more importantly, will provide some comfort to their family and assurance that the entire Charlotte community is behind them.”
