Oakland Zoo Hosts Primate Wise - a Benefit Presentation and Silent Auction for the Chimpanzees of the Budongo Forest
Oakland, CA (PRWEB) September 20, 2013 -- On Thursday, September 26, 2013, from 7:30pm – 10:00pm, Oakland Zoo welcomes Virginia Morell, author of Animal Wise: The Thoughts and Emotions of Our Fellow Creatures, a book that showcases the inner world of animals. This remarkable book by Virginia Morell is transcendent. Morell takes on the question of whether or not animals think and feel by visiting with various scientists around the world who have devoted their studies to a widely disparate sampling of nature’s creatures from ants to elephants.”
Admission price for presentation is $30.00 per person. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Budongo Snare Removal Project. This innovative conservation effort helps chimpanzees by removing snares set by poachers, supplying goats as sustenance to ex-hunters, and educating the community about the environment. This project serves as a model for others facing the growing challenges around human-wildlife conflict.
