Application virtualization pioneer AppZero today announced the appointment of two accomplished industry professionals to its executive ranks. Effective immediately, Ross Norrie will be responsible for product development and delivery; Valerie O’Connell will spearhead the company’s Business Development and Marketing initiatives. Both report to Greg O’Connor, AppZero CEO.
“2011 is off to a great start for AppZero.” O’Connor said. “Adding Norrie and O’Connell to an already deep bench of talent positions the company for strong execution of an ambitious schedule of product releases and market advances. What makes each of them individually a precision fit for the team is that fairly rare combination of success as innovative entrepreneurs and established careers with mainstream technology giants. As AppZero transitions from applauded start-up to credentialed market leadership, this experienced agility will be a differentiator.”
Prior to joining AppZero, Norrie co-founded AssetMetrix, a subscription-based business intelligence system, which was acquired by Microsoft. Norrie led the integration of AssetMetrix technologies and Microsoft's System Center Product line. Norrie also ran technology efforts for companies such as Provance Technologies and Asset Software International (ASI) as well as providing consulting services to Compaq and Citibank. He co-founded Radar Interactive, a provider of helpdesk analysis software and now sits on the board of directors. Norrie holds several patent awards and he earned a technology and business degree from Algonquin College.
Valerie O’Connell brings extensive experience in all aspects of high tech marketing and sales execution. Directly mapping marketing efforts to sales outcomes, she has served industry leaders such as Microsoft and EMC in a longstanding consulting practice, also engaging with growing innovators. O’Connell was Vice President of Product Marketing at CA (formerly Computer Associates) and Managing Director, Systems Management Practice at Aberdeen Group. She holds an MA from Boston College and a BA from the University of Massachusetts, which was punctuated by exchange programs at Oxford University, England and the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa.
