Researchers from Stanford University published the results of a study this week, questioning the value of raw organic foods. In response, San Diego massage school locator and healthy living proponent MassageSchoolSanDiego.com has released a top 5 list, revealing the best benefits of organic food.
According to the Baltimore Sun, Stanford University researchers recently studied data from more than 200 previous studies on organic food. They released their results this week, concluding that there is very little difference in nutrition content between organic foods and non-organic ones. The study results also showed that organic foods were just as likely to get E. coli and other contaminating bacteria as non-organic foods. Though the results revealed more pesticide and chemical reside on non-organic foods, the study determined that these levels were too low to cause harm.
In hopes of encouraging the continued consumption of these unprocessed, untreated and healthy foods, Massage School San Diego has released a list of the top 5 benefits of organic food:
1. They help protect our world from pollution. Typical farms allow chemicals and pesticides to run off into area waterways and pollute our air and soil. Organic farms don’t do this.
2. They respect the animal kingdom. Unlike with typical food preparation and farming, organic farms encourage biodiversity; they don’t kill or remove any animals or insects from farms unless they are specifically harmful to the crop. In addition, organic dairy cows are not injected with hormones or treated inhumanely.
3. They allow you to avoid eating pesticides and dangerous chemicals, as well as protect farm workers from exposure to them. Pesticides have been linked to health problems and birth defects in pregnant women.
4. They support the livelihood of local and rural farmers.
5. They taste better!
