Italian Father's Day

For new and veteran fathers alike, Palio d’Asti in downtown San Francisco is the place to be on Tuesday, March 19 when they offer up a table groaning array of dishes in honor of Italian Father’s Day. This annual event, known as St. Joseph’s Feast, is served on family style platters with five hot and cold antipasti, three different risotto, four entrées plus vegetables, and a luscious Sicilian cheesecake to share. Located between Union Square and the Financial District and close to all major hotels and Moscone Center, seatings are available from 5 - 9 p.m. Price is $55 per person and kids under 13 pay their age. Palio’s specialties, like all its dishes throughout the year, are made with organic and sustainable ingredients from local family farms and ranches. Voted a “2012 Diners Choice” favorite by Open Table users and among the Top 3 “Best Bay Area Italian” in a recent readers’ poll, diners also enjoy a full range of bar cocktails (including a “make your own” Manhattan), a Wine Spectator award winning wine list and Michelin rated comfortable dining with white tablecloth service.

“La Festa di San Giuseppe is always a fun evening at Palio,” said Owner Martino Di Grande, the scion of a Sicilian family who oversees all operations and personally greets every guest. “I look forward to offering some of my favorite dishes just like my Nonna (grandmother) used to make and I suggest that everyone wear comfortable clothes with a loose waistband because there’s a lot of great food to try.”
