High efficiency furnaces are part of the new standard in heating, benefiting a home through energy and cost savings and improved performance. Homeowners are advised to make the switch to a high efficiency model when replacing an out-of-date furnace. Gillece Heating Services provides and installs a selection of high efficiency furnaces for improvement of their customers’ home heating.
Low and mid efficiency furnaces used in many homes are often the sources of wasted energy and lead to increased heating costs as a result. Furnaces that are at least ten years old and that require frequent repairs, operate inefficiently, and are generally worn out may need replaced to adhere to new efficiency standards as well as to provide a home with more effective heating. Replacing an outdated furnace with a new high efficiency model can potentially cut heating costs and pollution output by half.
Furnace efficiency is measured by Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE), which is a measurement of heat output compared to energy consumed by a furnace over the course of an average year. The higher the rating, the more efficient the furnace. High efficiency furnaces start at 90 percent; furnaces provided by Gillece have ratings as high as 98 percent. Mid efficiency furnaces fall in the lower 80’s and low efficiency between 68 and 72. For a Gillece-provided 98% high efficiency furnace, 98% of the energy used is converted into heat for a home.
High efficiency furnaces are considered the most efficient because they convert more energy into heat, contribute less gas emissions to the environment, and provide overall more effective home heating. They do so in part through sealed combustion, which eliminates the need for a draft hood as outside air is brought into the burner and exhaust flue gases are directed outside. Sealed combustion also decreases the risk of flue gas leaks, such as of toxic carbon monoxide. High efficiency condensing furnaces, compared to typical, lower efficiency non-condensing furnaces, contribute to better efficiency through the use of a dual heat exchanger for a more effective heat extraction process.
Gillece Services provides and installs other high efficiency home appliances in addition to furnaces, including air conditioners, boilers, and water heaters. When updating their home heating system, homeowners can notice cost savings both monthly and annually. High efficiency furnaces provided by Gillece are ENERGY STAR® qualified, thus meeting efficiency requirements as established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
