PrinterLogic Introduces HP ThinPro Support to Eliminate Print Servers in Thin Client Environments

Printer Mapping
When setting up printing for Citrix & VMware sessions with HP ThinPro thin client end-point devices, both Citrix & VMware suggest using a print server and creating session printers in the session. However, Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and scripts are difficult to use in these environments because the GPOs and scripts are not aware of the remote end-points connecting to the session making it difficult to deploy printers in the session that are in proximity to the end-point device that is connecting to the session.
As a result, most HP ThinPro-based organizations end up using costly printer mapping tools. PrinterLogic eliminates the need for – and the high cost of – these tools. In HP ThinPro environments that require print servers, once printers are created in a session, the print job still needs to be sent to the print server before being sent to the physical printer. But in most of these environments, the users that are printing are remote – which means that the print job is crossing the WAN. This can cause significant WAN performance issues which causes problems with bandwidth-sensitive applications like Citrix and VMware sessions.
Previously, available solutions required either having a print server at each remote site, or the use of costly compression clients on each machine in the enterprise.
