Quorum and Kinetiq Leadership to Speak in Six Sessions at the Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) Advancing Ethical Research (AER) Conference
Anaheim, CA (PRWEB) November 08, 2016 -- Leaders of Quorum Review IRB and Kinetiq, the consulting and technology division of Quorum, will be featured in multiple sessions next week that cover emerging trends and best practices in clinical research. PRIM&R will host its 2016 AER Conference November 13-16, 2016, at the Anaheim Convention Center. Quorum will also celebrate 25 years as a leading independent review board at this conference.

James Riddle, Vice President of Client Services for Kinetiq, will be featured as a co-presenter in two sessions. First, he and other faculty will present how to assess quality in human research protections programs (HRPPs). This session will address how to measure quality and the right staffing levels in the HRPP. It is scheduled for November 14 at 2:30 p.m. Next, James and author speakers will present true stories from the IRB and their impact on IRB operations. The topic will provide attendees with an open conversation about the wild side of running an IRB office on an academic medical center campus. This advanced session will occur on November 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Quorum CEO Cami Gearhart also will be featured in two sessions. Her first appearance will be co-presenting an insightful topic titled “FDA Oversight, SBER, and the IRB.” This session provides guidance on whether a study requires investigational new drug or investigational device exemptions, among other takeaways. This presentation is on the conference agenda for November 15 at 11:15 a.m. Then, Cami returns as part of the faculty for a session at 3:30 p.m. the same day to present on important case studies of litigation and enforcement actions that may impact an institution or HRPP under the NIH single IRB review policy and the Common Rule.
Michelle Grienauer, Senior Regulatory Attorney for Kinetiq, will co-present on a trending topic in ethical research. The session is titled “Return of Individual Results—Complex Considerations for a Not-So-Simple Request.” This presentation will touch on finding the right balance for protecting autonomy and promoting beneficence. This session requires pre-registration to attend and will occur on November 15 at 11:15 a.m.
Finally, Dr. Lynn Borgata, Quorum Board Member, will participate in a panel discussion on a provocative topic titled—“You’ve Heard the Noise, Now What Are the Facts? The Legal Underpinnings of Fetal Tissue Research.” This session will be presented on November 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Quorum also will unveil a new whitepaper that describes how institutions gain research opportunities from partnering with multiple independent IRBs. This paper will be exclusively available to AER Conference attendees at the Quorum tradeshow booth.
