R.P. Delio and Company Opens Hawaii Factory for Modular Microgrid -- New Facilities for a New Paradigm
Honolulu, HI (PRWEB) July 23, 2015 -- The MicroIPP ™ units will contain inverters, AC power systems, and dynamic demand and supply dispatch grid controls, while the MicroBESS ™ units will contain complementary battery energy storage systems. These microgrid components are to be designed and manufactured entirely in Hawaii. Because of their containerized design, they can then be rapidly deployed to customers’ premises, both across the State and on the mainland.
The microgrid factory will initially be fitted out to with the capacity to produce 2 MW (megawatts) of microgrid modules each year. This will be sufficient to furnish 500 homes on Hawaii (or 250 homes on the mainland) with independent, clean, and low-cost power. The first Waypoint Power MicroIPP™ modules will roll off the assembly line in the 4th quarter of 2015, initially to fulfill existing orders.
“This is a UL 508A-certified production facility,” said Raymond “RP” Delio, president of R.P. Delio and Company. “We have a backlog of custom Waypoint Power™ building, energy and carbon management control panels and microgrid orders and are now in the process of ramping up containerized microgrid production for customers here in Hawaii and across the U.S. Mainland.”
The Waypoint Power™ platform provisions the MicroIPP™ and MicroBESS™ units with advanced controls, and is a family of services and modular components that can create and deploy a fully-configured uninterruptible power system (UPS) within hours of arriving on site. A typical configuration of one MicroIPP ™ unit plus one MicroBESS™ unit, using Waypoint Power™ 's demand and supply dispatch controls, can manage 120kW of PV, Wind, Micro Hydro and Biodiesel, and can call upon 450kWh of battery energy storage. The electrical power produced is of a higher quality than the grid can currently provide, at a price point that is well below current consumer and business electric rates.
R.P. Delio and Company believes that its factory-built modular designs will transform the cost and delivery time for microgrid capacity. This approach also allows customers to take an incremental and scalable approach to microgrid deployment. For example, customers can initially deploy their modules to provide emergency back-up power only, and then grow into a more grid independent position, as their requirements evolve.
“We have seen incredible demand for Waypoint Power™ microgrid’s from all types of users,” said Raymond “RP” Delio, President and CEO of R.P. Delio and Company. “Our customers no longer have to deal with a disjointed series of sustainable component acquisitions and construction projects in order to create microgrid capacity. The Waypoint Power platform delivers enterprise microgrid capacity whenever and wherever our customers need it.”
R. P. Delio and Company has been at the heart of the clean energy transformation for the best part of a decade.
