“This is particularly the case in the northern suburbs, like Cammeray, Crows Nest and Greenwich - all in that North Sydney area,” he said. “This is hardly surprising - it is just a quick jump on a train or drive over the bridge to get to the city. These have always been very desirable suburbs.”

But, as Mr Otton pointed out, not everyone can afford to, or wants to, live in these areas. Sydney is a sprawling city, growing mainly to the west and south-west, and prices are much more affordable is some of these areas.
