"We completed Phase I of the program in July of this year and began Phase II at that time,” said Eric Svendsen, Ph.D., Principal of safetyBUILT-IN. “With the help of some pretty amazing talent at the plant, the program was fast-tracked and the plant as a whole has made outstanding progress since we began the program eight months ago. We're not quite there yet, but we've got the infrastructure in place to promote continual safety culture growth."
The plant, located in Kansas, is just one of more than a dozen facilities owned and operated by a major auto-parts manufacturing company headquartered in New York.

Svendsen said the program, which includes training and development in Phase I and field-coaching and capability-building in Phase 2, culminates with an official program hand-off to the facility's leadership team.
That hand-off, scheduled for mid-December, will include a celebration and recognition of the safety coaches and champions who were instrumental in making the program a success.
The company spokesman noted that this latest completion marks the third such facility of the company to implement and complete the "From Compliance to Culture" Safety-Leadership Program.
The next company location scheduled to implement the program is their Greenville, SC plant.
"Floor employees are now beginning to step up and lead safety culture rather than merely comply with policy,” Svendsen said, before adding, “And leaders at the plant are consistently coaching and developing their employees as safety leaders, and regularly keeping their finger on the pulse of those they lead."
