Saint Mary's University of Minnesota Launches New Online Master of Arts in Special Education Program
(PRWEB) August 22, 2013 -- With more special needs learners being educated in mainstream classrooms, Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is making its innovative Master of Arts in Special Education program available entirely online, allowing classroom teachers across America and around the world the opportunity to create a more inclusive learning environment for learners.
"The study of Special Education is no longer just a specialty – it has become a necessity for countless mainstream classroom teachers who want to provide every student the best possible chance to reach his or her full potential," says Troy Daniel Gonzales, Ed.D., Program Director, M.A. in Special Education. "Our graduates not only return to their classrooms better equipped to teach students with learning disabilities, autism and other exceptionalities, they are also able to use the latest research and insights into Special Education to connect with students all across the educational spectrum. In reality, every student is exceptional, and everyone's learning needs are unique."
Master of Arts in Special Education coursework will be delivered via the Internet and through Saint Mary's custom iPad coursework app. The app provides online students the opportunity to complete activities, compile research, and collaborate and communicate with professors and fellow learners in ways never before possible with virtual education. Every online Master of Arts in Special Education student will be issued an iPad and provided with the app at no additional cost.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects job growth for teachers with Special Education credentials to outpace all other education professions in the next several years. Special Education teachers in preschool, kindergarten and elementary schools can expect 21 percent employment growth by 2020, according to the Bureau, compared to a national average of 14 percent growth for all occupations.
Applications for admission into the new online Master of Arts in Special Education program are being accepted now with online courses set to begin in August.
