San Juan, TX (PRWEB) March 11, 2013
After an investigation spanning a month, San Juan police took a suspect into custody earlier this week and charged in the theft of three boats as reported by Valley Central. Boat Trailers Used applauds the efforts of the San Juan Police Department in apprehending the suspect.
According to an article on ValleyCentral.com, David Torres, Jr. was arrested and charged with the thefts, after one of the boat trailers used to hold one of the stolen boats was sold on craigslist. The purchaser of the trailer attempted to register it under his name. When it came back flagged as stolen, police were able to trace the transaction to David Torres, Jr. The officers investigating the case don’t believe Torres acted alone, and are still searching for possible accomplices.
BoatTrailersUsed.com knows that boats are an expensive luxury, not to mention the trailers used to transport them. The theft of such a big-ticket item can be difficult to bear, and in today’s tough economic climate, they could be irreplaceable for families with little disposable income. The staff at Boat Trailers Used are glad, then, to see the decisive and effective action taken by San Juan police to help those victimized families get justice.
BTU staff also asks that boat owners take precautions, to hopefully prevent further thefts like these. A simple motion-activated light could be enough to frighten off would-be thieves.
Hidalgo county, Texas, has seen a rise of boat and trailer theft in recent months, but due to the tireless efforts of the San Juan Police Department, residents of Hidalgo can hopefully rest a little easier tonight. The staff at Boat Trailers Used thanks the SJPD, and hopes to see the rest of the thieves behind bars soon.
