Second Annual Health Technology Forum Code-a-thon May 10-11 at USF
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- The Health Technology Forum (HTF) will hold its second annual code-a-thon on May 10-11 at the University of San Francisco (USF). This year’s event is a call to develop technologies that improve patient engagement in managing behavioral health disorders. Teams of developers and mental health professionals are competing to find high tech treatment solutions for anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
Participating teams will develop prototypes on May 10 and present their solutions to judges and peers on Sunday, May 11. “The Code-a-thon offers groups of hackers and health professionals an exciting opportunity to design innovative new health applications for unaddressed problems,” says HTF founder Pronoy Saha. “In my experience, intensive sessions like these can foster some very creative concepts.”
The winning team has a unique opportunity to participate in an incubation program with the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFPDH). Key stakeholders from SFDPH and HTF will coach and mentor the winning team around critical implementation requirements.
“We are excited to be part of the community fostering innovation in behavioral healthcare and look forward to welcoming the winning team to our newly created innovation hub at San Francisco General Hospital,” said Barbara Garcia, director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. “The winning team will have the opportunity to work with our clinical staff on early validation of prototype designs so that the proposed solutions may have a greater chance of successfully helping patients and the healthcare community.”

More than $20,000 in cash prizes will be awarded to winners. Winners will also present as a panel at the HTF Innovation Conference Pathways to Sustainable Health and will demo their solutions at the Expo Hall on May 20 in San Francisco.
