Shady Grove Fertility Announces New Fertility Specialist in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) January 05, 2015 -- A respected leader in the fertility community, Shady Grove Fertility’s individualized patient care and successful treatment programs have resulted in the birth of over 37,000 babies. With 22 offices in the Mid-Atlantic region and a growing team of industry-leading reproductive endocrinologists, fertility patients have greater access to care than ever before. In order to better service patients in the Washington, D.C. area, Kate Devine, M.D., FACOG, will be joining our respected clinical team, practicing at Shady Grove Fertility’s Washington, D.C. office located on K Street NW.
Dr. Devine recently completed a three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), during which time she was the recipient of the NIH Intramural Loan Repayment grant for her research. She has mentored students in the Georgetown University Masters Program in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology. She has received several honors for her work, including the Traveling Scholars Award from the Society for Male Reproduction and Urology of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Outstanding Resident/Fellow Research Award from the New York Obstetrical Society.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, Dr. Devine obtained her medical degree with distinction in Ovarian Cancer Research from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York University. She has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility and she has been active in fertility research, publishing on topics ranging from fibroids to egg freezing for fertility preservation.
While pursuing her medical education, Dr. Devine worked extensively in the field of women’s health in the developing world. She worked for the International Organization for Women and Development in Niger, Africa, on an obstetrical fistulae repair mission. She also worked in women’s reproductive health for Child Family Health International while in Quito, Ecuador.
