Small Business Administration Names Michelle Kerr of Oxford Consulting Group the Ohio and Regional “Small Business Person of the Year”
Westerville, Ohio (PRWEB) April 02, 2014 -- Michelle Kerr, president of the information technology services and solutions firm Oxford Consulting Group, has been named the State of Ohio and SBA Region V “Small Business Person of the Year” by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The annual SBA award recognizes individuals who have helped their companies succeed in the areas of growth in sales or unit volume, increased workforce, financial strength, innovative products or services, and community-based projects.
One SBA award winner is chosen from every state, plus District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam, and from those a winner is selected from each of the ten SBA regions. Kerr has been named as the winner for Region V, which covers Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Michelle Kerr co-founded Oxford Consulting Group in her early twenties, and under her leadership, the company has achieved a three-year growth rate of 100 percent and has expanded to multiple offices in the United States and United Kingdom. In addition, Kerr has launched a technology training program to help provide much sought-after skills for enterprises, while helping to bring new jobs and economic development domestically.

Kerr is active in supporting women in business and technology, and the growth of other small businesses. She has received the NAWBO Visionary Award and honored as a WELD “Woman You Should Know,” among other awards.
Kerr is also deeply involved in a number of charitable organizations, including Amethyst Inc., Children's Hunger Alliance, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and its Wine for Wildlife event, and the American Heart Association’s Circle of Red. Furthermore, she has received the CVS Caremark Good Samaritan Award for her extensive involvement in the community.
Kerr will receive the award during the SBA observance of National Small Business Week in Washington, D.C. on May 15-16, where she is a nominee for the Small Business Person of the Year award at a national level. She will also be honored at SBA’s “Celebrating Success in Small Business Awards” on May 29 at the Pinnacle Golf Club, Grove City, Ohio.
