Perth, WA (PRWEB) March 11, 2013
On Friday 8th of March, Pablo Rodriguez Pina, founder and co-director of the Perth (Western Australia) based software company announced the company will be investigating developing applications with Augmented Reality.
The company, which specialises in Enterprise Java Development will begin exploring the field of Augmented Reality with the intention of developing AR enabled mobile applications.
There are libraries for Augmented Reality for a variety different platforms in open source and commercial terms. Additionally there are a number of platforms for developing cross platform mobile applications. The company is investigating the different technology stacks and a combination which would allow the development firm to deliver cross platform AR-enabled mobile applications with a single code base.
Pablo Rodriguez Pina described the challenges of the scenario: “The first challenge when developing mobile applications that require running in multiple platforms such as iOS or Android is to reduce the development and maintenance costs and complexity by utilizing a single code base. There are a number of tools in the market such as Codenameone or PhoneGap. The Oracle JavaFX team recently announced an upcoming release of JavaFX for mobile platforms which we are looking forward to test. The second challenge is to identify an Augmented reality library that we could use in our application. There are again several options for different platforms. As the first choice conditions the second, or the other way around, we are trying to find the the combination that would allow us to deliver all the requirements in the most cost effective and maintainable way”
Some of the Augmented Reality libraries in the market are:
- Wikitude for HTML5
- NyARToolkit or Project Marble for Java
- Junaio or ANDAR for Android
- GravityJack for Android and iOS
