SP Ableware/Maddak Forms Partnership with Danish Manufacturer to be the Master US Distributor of the Rika Product Line
Wayne, NJ (PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- SP Ableware/Maddak has teamed up with Danish manufacturer, Rikaplas and is launching an exciting line of products that includes adaptive drinking cups and adaptive household items. Kathleen Hanek, Sr. Channel Manager, SP Ableware/Maddak tells us, “For several years, SP Ableware/Maddak has been proposing a partnership with Rikaplas where we would handle the U.S. distribution of the Rika line. At the end of 2014, the agreement was finalized and we were chosen to be the exclusive U.S. distributor due to our vast distribution channels and relationships with their existing customers.”
According to Hanek, “The Rika product line is a series of adaptive drinking cups and other adaptive household items designed to meet the needs of people with certain limitations. The products, all manufactured in Denmark, feature the stylish design Scandinavians are known for, making them attractive as well as functional.”
The line features four different cups: The Novo Cup, Sure Grip Cup, Single-Use Disposable Cup and Easy Grip Cup. The Novo, Sure Grip and Single-Use Disposable cups allow a person to drink while lying down without the need to raise the head. These cups come with lids that help control the flow of fluid and reduce the amount of spillage if they get knocked over. The Easy Grip Cup is a lightweight, conical shaped cup that is easy to hold and fits comfortably in the hand.
The Novo Cup is spill-resistant after the first sip and the user controls the flow of fluid by sipping on the spout. The easy-to-hold Sure Grip Cup allows a person to control the flow of fluid by sipping on the mouthpiece or, in the case where a person does not have the sucking ability, by placing the finger over the vent holes in the lid. The Single-Use Disposable Cup, comes in a bag of 12, and was designed for use in long term care, acute care, hospital and clinical settings where cross contamination is a concern. The lightweight Easy Grip Cup is for a person who cannot handle a larger, heavier cup.
The adaptive household items include a Blister Pack Opener and a One-Handed Canister Set. The Blister Pack Opener is sized and shaped like a retractable pen with a pointed tip that easily cuts through blister packs and protective seals on pill bottles. The canister set includes 3 canisters that open and close with the simple touch of a finger or the palm of the hand. Little to no gripping strength or wrist movement is needed. “This is ideal for anyone with limited hand strength, diminished fine motor control or the use of only one hand,” explains Hanek.
