Minneapolis, MN Spanish Language School offers a variety of classes from beginner to advanced in a relaxed environment, using conversational methods that make learning convenient for busy adults.

The Spanish Institute announces its Fall 2006 schedule of Spanish classes with classes for all ages and levels of experience starting September 25. Registrations are currently being accepted for 10-week Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

Jose Abascal, co-founder and director of the Spanish Institute, invites the public to attend an informational Open House at the Institute on September 19, 2006, from 5-7 p.m.

“The Open House is a great opportunity to meet our faculty, tour the school and find out more about our approach to teaching,” says Abascal. “Our small class sizes and relaxed, comfortable learning environment set us apart.” He adds, “For busy professionals who need to learn quickly, but don’t have time for hours of weekly homework or reading, our classes work extremely well.”

From the first day of class, students and instructors speak entirely in Spanish – a method known as language “immersion.” Trained instructors from Spanish-speaking countries facilitate dialogue among students, while sharing the richness of Hispanic culture.

“We’ve found there’s more to learning a language than memorizing vocabulary and grammar. Our methods are proven to increase proficiency. Students learn on multiple levels, internalizing the language so conversing becomes automatic,” Abascal explains. “Students at all levels -- even the Beginners -- learn quickly and competently,” he notes. “The first-time students particularly enjoy the direct participation of the classes. It makes learning accessible.”

Abascal and co-founder Jeanne Larson established the Spanish Institute in 2005 to bring Hispanic culture and language instruction to the Twin Cities. Since opening its doors, enrollment has increased five-fold, with fall sessions among the most popular. The demand for Spanish instruction continues to grow, fueled by a diverse Twin Cities population, as well as the international business arena. Abascal notes that students pursue Spanish for business communication, personal travel, and self improvement. “We serve a diverse group of students with courses that meet the needs of first-time learners, experienced students, and the business community. It’s all focused on the Spanish language and culture, with emphasis on a high caliber of instruction,” he says.
