PHOENIX (PRWEB) November 28, 2018
Starlight Community Theater (SCT) will be presenting Frank Capra's It’s a Wonderful Life for twelve (12) performances beginning Friday, November 30 and running through Sunday, December 16. This production will mark the fifth show of SCT’s 2018-2019 season and is presented by special arrangement through Dramatic Publishing.
Known as a Holiday classic, It’s a Wonderful Life follows George Bailey, the Everyman from the small town of Bedford Falls, whose dreams of escape and adventure have been quashed by family obligation and civic duty. After falling into despair, George’s guardian angel appears to save him from despair and to remind George of the wonderful life he has been given by showing him a world where he was never born.
This faithful adaptation has all your favorite characters from the film: George and Mary Hatch, Clarence, Uncle Billy, Violet, and, the Scrooge-like villain, Mr. Potter. This dramatization not only celebrates the faith of the season, it also celebrates the American philosophy of life: hard work, fair play and the love and support of one's family and community will be rewarded.
"The story of It’s a Wonderful Life is an enduring classic that is beloved by millions around the world.” says Barb Surloff, Director of It’s a Wonderful Life, “For anyone who loves the movie or maybe hasn’t seen it, we invite you to join in the holiday spirit and attend a show that will touch your heart.”
Based off of Frank Capra’s 1946 film, It’s a Wonderful Life was adapted into a play by James W. Rodgers. It was first performed on December 15, 1993 at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. Since then, the play has been performed at thousands of local community theaters, churches and high school around the United States.
