“I have seen a dozen 14-year-olds embrace my copy [of Data Miner Recipes] with enthusiasm and derive meaningful results from experimental data in a few mouse clicks”

StatSoft is providing STATISTICA Data Miner, predictive analytics software, for Statistics.com’s STATISTICA Data Miner Practicum class. Enrollment is being accepted for this class, which starts on June 10, 2011.
StatSoft’s innovative Data Miner Recipes (DMR) will be used, which guides the user through the predictive analytics process. DMR enables the user to take data (even if they are not perfect) and quickly apply “best practices,” obtain and test outcomes (validate models), and then move on to refine the results without the need of an advanced degree in statistics or predictive modeling. No one has “perfect data,” but everyone needs fast, actionable results.
In a review of STATISTICA Data Miner (August/September 2010 edition of Scientific Computing World) Felix Grant worked with 14-year-old students as well as a group of farmers interested in a more scientific approach to their farming decisions. “I have seen a dozen 14-year-olds embrace my copy [of Data Miner Recipes] with enthusiasm and derive meaningful results from experimental data in a few mouse clicks” as well as “a team of farmers without formal statistical training use DMR… seeking exploitable patterns in the behavior and influence of natural pollination vectors.”
Bob Nisbet of Nisbet Analytics is the class instructor. He has 15 years experience in business analytics and 7 years in ecological analytics experience. He says, “I am pleased with StatSoft’s participation in this new course. I have become an ‘addict’ to the Recipes interface provided by STATISTICA Data Miner for largely automating not only the modeling algorithms (i.e., STATISTICA Automated Neural Networks), but also the ensemble modeling process itself! No other tool does that.”
STATISTICA Data Miner has received top ratings in "Rexer Survey 2010," the world's largest survey of data mining professionals.
