Steinger, Iscoe & Greene Win $11 Million Verdict for Victim of Drunk Driver

Felt was later caught by police and was sentenced to five years in prison, but Steinger says that did nothing to help Wilde manage his injuries as stated in court documents.

The accident was preventable, Steinger says. Felt had been drinking at the local Eagles Lodge for at least nine hours that day, and the Lodge allegedly never cut him off. When police caught Felt his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit as stated in court documents.
"He is a known alcoholic and the Lodge knew he was driving home," Steinger said. "Three times the limit means one fourth of a percent of all the blood in his body was pure alcohol; at that point a person is essentially disabled by alcohol." Case No: 2010 CA 457 (Okeechobee)

Steinger believes the case sends a strong message to drinking establishments that they cannot over-serve customers.
"If you keep selling drinks when you know someone is drunk, you share responsibility for the outcome."
