We do more than half our business outside the U.S., and we have good word-of-mouth in Europe and Asia.
Akron, OH (Vocus) May 27, 2009
Summit Data Communications, the leader in embedded Wi-Fi® solutions for mobile computers and other business-critical mobile devices, continues to gain recognition as an emerging company in Northeast Ohio. Summit won the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce 2009 Excellence in Business Award and was one of three finalists for the Software Product - Breakout category of the Northeast Ohio Software Association (NEOSA) "Best of Tech" Awards.
The Excellence in Business Award from the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce recognizes businesses that demonstrate outstanding performance, growth, staying power, and innovation as well as provide leadership in the community. During the current recession, Summit has remained profitable and hired several new employees as well as interns from local universities. Summit participates in The University of Akron Computer Science Advisory Board and partners with United Disability Services of Akron.
''We love the Akron area," said Ron Seide, Summit's president. "Many of us have had opportunities to leave this area, and we either stayed or we left and came back. This is the birthplace of the technology that we use in our products, so it's kind of full circle for us.''
The NEOSA Best of Tech Awards recognize excellence in Northeast Ohio technology companies and entrepreneurs and promote the region as an "awesome place to work and live". In 2008, Summit was named "Best Emerging Company" by NEOSA. This year, NEOSA recognized Summit for a software application called the Summit Client Utility (SCU). Designed for end users and administrators of mobile computers that use a Summit wireless module, SCU streamlines information for easier use and troubleshooting.
"We are successful because we have close relationships with our customers and strive to understand and meet their needs," said Seide. "We do more than half our business outside the U.S., and we have good word-of-mouth in Europe and Asia."
