As a sustainable event planning company, the Karine Brighten Events team is producing the series with the primary goal of maintaining a minimal carbon footprint. All events will be vegan and sustainable, and unnecessary expenditures, like paper tickets, will not be used. All materials used will be recyclable, compostable and when possible, re-useable.

“We’re going to be exploring and enjoying nature in many of these events; we want to respect it at the same time. We encourage carpooling, biking and taking public transit to our events, and only using recyclable materials when necessary.”

This summer, Karine Brighten Events (Top Event Planner and Event Coordinator based in the San Francisco Bay Area) is bringing romance to Bay Area vegan and vegetarian singles with the Veg Singles Meet-up Series. Launching in June, the events brings together singles of all sexual orientations to enjoy activities in Berkeley, Oakland, San Francisco and Santa Cruz. These events are planned to spark chemistry, and hopefully relationships, all while showing off the Bay’s finest locales.

“Last year, I started doing vegan speed dating events after noticing that a lot of vegan and vegetarian singles in the area were having trouble finding companions that shared their ethics and dietary preferences,” said Karine Brighten, owner of Karine Brighten Events. “The speed dating events were great, but as with any environment like that, our participants had only light-touch interactions. This year, we’re creating more in-depth experiences. Events will generally last about two hours, and give participants the chance to work together, and really get to know each other.”

The Meet-up Series kicks off with three varied, and highly interactive events (all of which will be sustainable and vegan)

  •     The first, taking place June 16th, is a scavenger hunt for “Love” themed statues around San Francisco;
  •     This is followed on June 24th, by an “Afternoon Under the Stars,” learning to read sky maps at the Lawrence Hall digital planetarium;
  •     On July 15th, there will be a hiking tour and picnic, which includes a demonstration and talk by vegan chef, author and TV personality, Miyoko Schinner. The talk, titled “Entertaining with Wine and Cheese,” will end with a buffet of Chef Miyoko’s vegan cheeses, along with fruits, vegetables and refreshments.

All future events will be green and sustainable, tailored by age and sexual orientation. They will include green events such as walking tours, museum adventures, restaurants tours and more. Our goal is continually come up with fresh event ideas with a small carbon footprint.
