Sygnet’s installation-ready containerized modules will fit on any platform worldwide without special engineering, changes in hardware or software, and can meet horsepower requirements up to 4,200 bhp/3,132 kW.
The Universal Power Module is designed to “drop-in,” replacing the complete diesel-electric system from any OEM for both four and six axle designs. A full Sygnet system can be completed in mere weeks with the ability to meet any weight restriction and all current emission standards in the Americas and European Union.

Sygnet’s system offering utilizes specialty engines from Cummins, engineered specifically to deal with the rigors of locomotive use. The self-contained Universal Power Module integrates a prime mover, alternator, cooling system, dynamic brake system, electrical components and Sygnet’s proprietary control system.
The Sygnet control system integrates advanced wheel slip functionality, dynamic brake control, locomotive and engine diagnostic and fault code capture, remote operational reporting and commissioning testing. The system continuously checks operational status, resulting in significant fuel efficiency improvement, reduced emissions and lower noise levels.
Sygnet also offers advanced telematics reporting and GPS location services that integrate with back office maintenance and accounting systems offering real-time monitoring of performance. Sygnet’s tools can even communicate back to the locomotive’s systems, allowing remote corrections and changes while in operation.
The Sygnet Universal Power Module is shipped in a standard ISO shipping container and the locomotive platform is prepared using the same skills used to maintain them. This solves the problem of having to bring the locomotive to the repower shop, instead the new power can be delivered anywhere in the world using standard shipping container logistics.
