The Eichholz Law Firm, P.C. Joins Forces with Safe Shelter to Combat Domestic Violence and Protect Women
Savannah, Ga. (PRWEB) May 23, 2014 -- The Eichholz Law Firm, P.C. is excited to announce their collaboration with Savannah’s Center for Domestic Violence, also known as Safe Shelter. Starting on May 21, 2014, drop-off points will be collecting old cell phones and/or non-perishable food items. The collection drive will end on June 30, 2014.
Some donated phones are reset to factory settings and will give battered women the ability to call 911 in an emergency situation. Previous user information is fully deleted prior to distribution, maintaining the privacy of the donor. The other phones are turned in to Shelter Alliance, a cell phone recycling fundraising program that essentially pays the shelter for every cell phone that they turn in.
The cell phone recycling program garnered just over $2,000 for Safe Shelter in 2013. The Eichholz Law Firm would like to challenge the Savannah community to assist them in reaching their goal of $4,000, doubling the amount of proceeds from the 2013 cell phone recycling drive.
During 2013, Safe Shelter received 1,562 crisis calls and provided services to 668 victims of domestic violence, including 343 children. The proceeds from the cell phone recycling program are used locally to fund the services of Safe Shelter. Some of their services include emergency shelter, counseling, victim advocacy in court and multiple prevention programs.
Daniel Eichholz, the firm’s managing partner, stated, “Safe Shelter has been helping Savannah’s domestic violence victims and their children for thirty-five years and we feel that domestic violence is one of those topics that should never be put on the back burner. Our firm is known as ‘The Justice Lawyer’ and we truly believe that it is important to give back to our community in a meaningful way.”
The main “drop-off” point will be at The Eichholz Law Firm’s main office, located at 530 Stephenson Avenue, Suite 200 in the south side of Savannah. The other drop-off points are as follows:
Georgetown: Sun’s Design Salon- 2000 Grove Point Rd., Savannah
Garden City: Dynamic Spine and Rehab- 5108 Augusta Rd., Garden City
Historic District: RMC Jewelry- 421 E. Broughton St., Savannah
All items that can be used at the shelter are welcome, but the main focus is on old cell phones and non-perishable food items. Savannah’s Center for Domestic Violence Services is a 501(c)3 organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
