U.S. Antique Shows Reports Robust Sales for Spring Pier Antique Show
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 07, 2014 -- U.S. Antique Shows, the world’s leading producer of indoor antique shows, recently concluded their first year hosting the March Pier Antique Show to increased sales and significant opening day attendance. The event was hosted at Pier 94, March 29-30, 2014.
“We were thrilled to report that exhibitors’ experienced a dramatic uptick in sales, far greater than in recent years,” said Dan Darby, Emerald Expositions vice president and U.S. Antique Shows group show director.
“We also had more than 50 percent of dealers renew their booths for next year before the show was over, which is a strong indicator of the increased sales several of our dealers mentioned. In addition, many attendees commented on the enhanced shopping experience of this year’s show and their positive interactions with dealers educating them on their merchandise.”
Martin Chasin of Martin Chasin Fine Arts, who has exhibited at the Pier Antique Show for 21 years, was thrilled with his sales at the weekend spring show. “It has been a wonderful selling show for me. I sold two sets of Tiffany & Co. flatware. There was a mob scene of buyers opening day. It was very, very good!”
Echoing that sentiment, David Smernoff of From Here to Antiquity exclaimed, “I sold more than 35 paintings!”
New York City’s largest antique event featured nearly 400 exhibitors of quality antique furniture, jewelry, decorative and fine arts. Attendees were able to acquire pieces from the 18th century through the 1980s including a wide variety of kitchen and home décor, paintings, antique jewelry, art glass, ceramics and more. A varied selection of vintage clothing, jewelry and handbags was also available.
“We had a great show and the turnout of attendees was tremendous with many lined up at the ticketing gate. I think a lot people left the show with some really terrific pieces!” says Cory Margolis of Mantiques Modern, who carries both modern furniture and home décor items.
Barget’s Antiques’ Roberta and Seymour Barget were very pleased with the show’s organization. “Despite the weather, we had a really good show! I sold a fabulous pair of hand blown jugs with 1870 silver mounts as well as a plethora of other merchandise,” says Roberta.
Seymour continues, “We’ve been participating in the Pier Antique Show for 15 years and the way U.S. Antique Shows has organized the show made for a very smooth run. We’re happy with the results!”
U.S. Antique Shows now produces nine shows nationally. The Pier Antique Show is held semi-annually in March and November. The next New York show scheduled for U.S. Antique Shows is the New York Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, July 25-28, 2014 at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
