Upcoming Florida Bar Convention Gets a Charge out of Upchurch Watson White & Max
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (PRWEB) June 19, 2014 -- Lawyers are so busy at The Florida Bar Annual Convention, racing from one Continuing Legal Education course to the next, checking the convention app on their iPhones to make sure they are not missing anything, making notes on their tablets and checking messages from their offices and homes. Eventually, both they and their devices run out of energy.
Upchurch Watson White & Max Mediation Group to the rescue! Following a longtime UWWM tradition, the firm is again sponsoring its recharge station near the entrance to the conference. Staffers armed with plenty of micro USBs (for Android and Blackberry), USB ports, and iPhone 4 and 5 adapters will be able to charge nearly any device. Also, there will be a selection of freshly baked cookies and a wide variety of candy on hand at the station to perk up attendees and family members.
Early in the proceedings, when everyone is still fresh, mediator Sandy Upchurch, who also is the convention chair, will moderate a panel discussion titled "Leaning In to the Legal Profession." Another UWWM mediator, firm shareholder Kimberly Sands, will participate in the panel along with Mayanne Downs, shareholder in GrayRobinson's Orlando office; Sen. Maria Sachs, who represents Broward and Palm Beach County contituents in the Florida Senate; Burnadette Norris-Weeks, principal of an eponymous civil and governmental law firm based in Fort Lauderdale; Kelly Overstreet Johnson, office-managing shareholder for BakerDonelson in Tallahassee; and June C. McKinney, currently administrative law judge with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings.
"In the spirit of Sheryl Sandberg’s book 'Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead,' attendees will learn how the panelists have learned to identify obstacles and overcome obstacles that have been placed before them or obstacles they themselves have unconsciously created," say panel organizers. "Panelists will address how they have balanced work and family in the day to day world, the importance of keeping your eye on the professional prize, and how to unlearn some instinctive behaviors that could be holding women back from achieving professional success."
Attendees of the course, scheduled for 2 to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, will earn 1.5 hours of General CLE credit.
