Vital Imaging, the leading provider of medical-legal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in the state of California, has donated $100,000.00 to support the non-profit organization Project Child Save, whose mission is the prevention of child abductions and kidnappings through education and public awareness. When these unfortunate crimes occur, Project Child Save utilizes an international network to locate the abducted children, retrieve them, and return them home to their loved ones.
In 2011, Sam Solakyan, CEO of Vital Imaging, happened to catch an episode of a program on the Discovery channel called “Kidnap and Rescue.” The show followed a group of people who were going on rescue missions to save children who had been kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery.
“At first I couldn’t believe what I was watching, it was so horrific that I thought this must be something thought up by Hollywood,” said Sam. “I immediately became so disturbed that I began researching the credentials of this organization to see if what they were doing was real or just very dramatic stories meant to scare an audience.” The further he dug the more real it became.
Sam has been an advocate for various child protection agencies in the past and has been a generous philanthropist for children’s charities. “Because of my ties to the community and my interest in child welfare issues, I had seen and heard a lot of disturbing things concerning the abuse of children, but nothing that shook me to the core the way this had. When I began researching Ty Ritter and his organization Project Child Save, who were the featured group on the show “Kidnap and Rescue,” I had to know if I could help in some way. Once I became aware of how real child trafficking was and how criminals were making huge money selling child pornography of the youngest kids being raped, my goal became eradicating this horrendous crime. I eagerly got in touch with Mr. Ritter.” Following Sam’s initial donation of $20,000.00, Project Child Save documented 39 cases of children having been saved from daily rape, torture and murder.
When Ritter’s trained operatives, mostly retired law enforcement agents, veterans, navy seals and retired government agents go on a raid, they save every victim they can find, not just the target victim. Ritter explains that he has, “…no one on payroll. I have been fortunate to work with skilled volunteers who are passionate about ending this atrocity against children. These folks are eager to take the Project Child Save pledge, ‘If necessary I am prepared to give all of my tomorrows for one child’s today.’ These operatives are extremely dangerous; my team risks their lives to go on these missions.”
When Sam realized what 20k could accomplish so quickly, he was eager to meet the board members and volunteers responsible for saving these children. According to Ty Ritter, “After Sam’s contribution to our cause we were happy to share the news of our successful mission. We were truly overwhelmed when he donated another $100,000.00 to Project Child Save’s rescue missions, we will accomplish so much with this, so many lives can be saved. These missions are costly. Airlines are not handing out free tickets, hotels aren’t putting our operatives up for free during our reconnaissance missions, the equipment we need to do our jobs efficiently is not cheap, and after we recover these stolen children there is so much more they need in order to be returned safely to their families or safe houses where they can be treated medically and psychologically for their injuries. Not everyone can go on these missions, it’s not for everyone, but if we had a donation from everyone who wishes to be part of the end of this crime against humanity, we could accomplish a lot. We appreciate that help so much, it is the reason we are able to go to the places we need to go to do this work. We will save so many with the money Sam has entrusted us with.”
In a meeting in March of 2012, Sam committed himself long term to join the fight against child pornography and child sex trafficking stating, “Human trafficking – particularly child sex trafficking is second only to drug trafficking in terms of lucrative black market business. This is the most heinous, horrible crime I can imagine and I couldn’t put a price tag on how important it is to end this once and for all. No amount of success in this lifetime is worth it when we live in a world where people sell, rape, torture, exploit and murder children. Can you imagine if it was one of your own?”
