VTI Vacuum Technologies President Guillermo "Wil" Fernandez recently exhibited at the first Cyberspace Symposium in Omaha, Nebraska in April. The symposium, organized by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) and U.S Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), revolved around the theme of "advancing cyberspace capabilities to deliver integrated effects."
Fernandez found a significant degree of demand for VTI's services. "There was interest ranging from research specialists to electrical engineers to procurement personnel that had an interest for some medical diagnostic devices such as infusion pumps and digital thermometers, to name a few," Fernandez commented. He also spoke of the high degree of interest among the attendees in VTI's process of vacuum metalization of injection-molded plastic enclosures: "The fact that our RoHS compliant coating is a very lightweight and highly conductive aluminum was of interest to those that manufacture handheld radios, battery packs, and GPS systems," said Fernandez. "Additionally, there was great interest in our conductive gasket-dispensing capabilities for EMI solutions not only on plastics, but also on RF aluminum shields."
Workshop topics included options to alleviate shortfalls in the cyberspace domain; industry best practices and cutting-edge technologies; common threats to all domains; strengthening joint cyberspace relationships; and approaches to recruit, train, develop, and retain cyber expertise and leadership.
