From the time he started working with Sage, we saw a huge change in Zachary; he is happier, calmer, and more sociable. For a child with Autism symptoms, connecting with the world can be difficult. For Zachary, Sage is his connection.
Denver, CO (Vocus) November 1, 2007
Before Sage came along, Zach had trouble at school and could hardly fall asleep at night. The thirteen year-old boy suffers with Autism. Sage is a beautiful Golden Retriever, rescued from a shelter and custom trained by Zach himself to be a service dog and a special companion; a companion who would quickly change his life and lift him from his fears and struggles. For this, Dog Lovers Wine Club will honor Sage and Zach on their November wine label. The wine club was created specifically to support animal shelters and rescues nationwide.
“From the time he started working with Sage, we saw a huge change in Zachary; he is happier, calmer, and more sociable. For a child with Autism symptoms, connecting with the world can be difficult. For Zachary, Sage is his connection.” Rhonda Urbach, Zach’s Mom
Zach’s Autism causes him to have trouble socializing with and understanding people, that is, until Sage came into his life. These days, Zach’s mom watches in awe as Zach talks more freely with people, telling them all about Sage. In addition to giving Zach the boost he needed to blend with people of all ages for the first time, Zach’s mom says Sage is just the warm and gentle calming force Zach desperately needs to help calm his extreme anxieties and help him unwind after a day at school. She’s seen how Sage has helped open up a new world for Zach. His love and pride for his very special dog is helping Zach live a better life every day.
To honor Zach and Sage’s special relationship and to emphasize the endless positives of pet ownership, Dog Lovers Wine Club (http://www.dogloverswineclub.com) will feature Sage and Zach on their “Dog of The Month” November Label. There’s no better way to toast ''National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week'' (http://www.animalsheltering.org), which takes place November 4th – 10th, 2007.
Each month, the boutique California winery selects a special dog from stories and photos submitted by wine and dog enthusiasts across the United States. The bottles feature an inspirational real-life story and a beautiful custom illustration, an art piece, of a dog on wine labels shipped out to Dog Lovers Wine Club members all over the country. The best part is, every club membership supports animal shelters, rescue, therapy and service organizations throughout the United States. There are over thirty different non-profit animal shelters and rescue organizations that can now benefit from each wine club membership.
Now through January 15th, new members will receive their first wine club shipment for only $2. A Dog Lovers Wine Club Membership makes the perfect gift for people who love animals, great wine and who want to make a difference.
Zach and Sage’s encouraging story is just one example of how animals often touch a person’s life, changing them forever. Dog Lovers Wine Club celebrates this idea and shares these experiences in every wine shipment they send.
Media Opportunities: Dog Lovers Wine Club Co-founders, as well as Zach and his mother Rhonda are available for interviews. A complete video b-roll package and additional images are also available.
