HomeFun.co suggests various activities that can keep families occupied when parents and children are home for the holidays. Some people think of days off as times for horseplay while others devote the extra time to neglected responsibilities, but work and school-free days can actually provide time for new discoveries.

From late November through the end of the year, most people have an abundance of spare time on their hands. Days off can be used to explore creative and intellectually stimulating pursuits like art, music and reading. For typically overworked people, holidays provide opportune times for taking up new hobbies like painting, sculpting and model-making.

Off-days from work and school can also be devoted to chores around the house. Laundry and room-cleaning can seem daunting when left unattended, but chores can actually pass by quickly with the right kinds of music on hand. Parents can even keep children enthused about housework by treating such chores as contests, complete with timers, scores and game snacks rewards at the end.

Music, books and movies are typically consumed throughout the working week, but all can be more fully explored during work-free days. Books in particular take time to appreciate, and a lot of people never get around to finishing their most enjoyed novels. Free days allow people to finish books, explore new music and cross unwatched movies off their must-see lists.

Days at home can also be spent watching dish tv, whether one prefers talk shows, news or more educational programming. People argue over whether or not television viewing is constructive. Free time, however, is meant to be fun time, and there are many different ways in which parents and children can seek enjoyment during winter vacations.

HomeFun.co suggests activities that parents and children can explore together during the holiday season, from household chores to recreational hobbies.

HomeFun.co is committed to helping parents discover broader arrays of family activities, from old-fashioned games to newer educational pursuits via modern day technology.
