Zend Technologies, the PHP Company, today announced open source and commercial support for the Adobe Flash Platform, including Adobe Flash Builder 4 and Flex 4, to improve rich Internet application (RIA) development for developers, enterprise IT departments and independent software providers in the rapidly growing PHP community. Zend and Adobe have worked closely together to bring synergies across the Adobe Flash Platform and the PHP language as both technologies continue to evolve.

Integrated Development Environment
Adobe Flash Builder 4 and Zend Studio 7, the leading professional PHP IDE, are both based on Eclipse version 3.5, providing PHP developers with one Integrated Development Environment for developing and debugging both the front-end and the back-end of PHP and Flex-based applications. Zend Studio 7 is also integrated with Zend Server, a PHP Web application server, which further increases developer efficiency by providing code tracing, an integrated PHP stack installer and other capabilities.

"Unmatched developer productivity is a key driver in the widespread adoption of PHP by mainstream corporate IT," said Eldad Maniv, Vice President, Products and Marketing at Zend Technologies. "With Adobe Flash Builder, Zend Studio, Zend Server and Zend Framework, PHP developers can now access an integrated solution for building more compelling rich Internet applications faster and with fewer resources."

Data-centric Development
Zend Framework with Action Message Format support (Zend AMF) is bundled with Adobe Flash Builder 4 through ongoing technology cooperation between Adobe and Zend. PHP developers using Zend AMF get the benefit of an open, binary, high-speed format for rapid client-server data exchange for their applications built with Adobe Flash Builder 4 and Flex 4. Zend AMF also helps ensure scalability of rich Internet applications, especially as data load increases, while simultaneously reducing development time.

"By including Zend Framework within Flash Builder 4, we are allowing enterprise PHP developers to easily introspect PHP classes using the powerful new data-centric development capabilities within Flash Builder," said Bryant Macy, director of product marketing at Adobe. "Building RIAs just got easier for PHP developers with Zend technologies and the Flash Platform."

Zend Framework
Zend Framework is a Zend-sponsored open-source PHP application framework based on simplicity, object-oriented best practices, corporate-friendly licensing, and a rigorously tested, agile codebase. Its focus is on building more secure, reliable, modern Web 2.0 and Cloud applications, and consuming widely available APIs from recognized vendors including Adobe, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Yahoo!.

Zend Studio
Zend Studio is the leading professional-grade PHP IDE (integrated development environment). It has been designed to maximize developer productivity by enabling developers to develop and maintain code faster, solve application problems more quickly, and improve team collaboration.
