26th Annual Golden Spike Awards Set for Nov. 14, 2013
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) September 13, 2013 -- The call for entries for the 2013 Golden Spike Awards has now concluded. More than 100 entries have been submitted for the 26th annual Golden Spike Awards dinner and ceremony. The event will be held at Rio Tinto Stadium’s Budweiser Club Real Room on Nov. 14, 2013 at 6:30 p.m.
“It’s an honor to help organize the Golden Spike Awards. There’s a whole lot of very good public relations work happening right here in Utah and I’m happy to play a small part in letting others know about the breadth and depth of the public relations profession in our state,” said Pete Codella, co-chair of the Golden Spike Awards Organizing Committee.
The Golden Spike Awards competition is an annual program sponsored by the Utah chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Utah chapter, and the Utah Society for Healthcare Communication and Marketing (USHCAM).
The competition recognizes excellence and best practices in public relations and business communications throughout the state of Utah. Entries are judged by out-of-market communication professionals, including professionals Accredited in Public Relations through the Universal Accreditation Board, an organization supported in part by the Public Relations Society of America.
Judges select winning entries and award Golden Spike Awards or Awards of Merit based on scores in the categories of research, planning, execution and evaluation. A best of show Golden Spike is also awarded for the highest scoring entry.
In addition to awards for entrants, the event includes four individual award categories with recipients selected by the members of Utah’s chapters of the Public Relations Society of America. The individual award categories are: Communicator of the Year, Professional Communicator of the Year, Young Professional Communicator, and Community Activist of the Year.
Details about the 2013 event may be found online at GoldenSpikeAwards.com. Recipients of individual awards, like the 2013 Golden Spike Awards Communicator of the Year, will be announced shortly before the Nov. 14, 2013 event.
