17a-4 continues to improve the DataParser software’s functionality with an expanded auto update feature. Now clients can receive all updates, major and minor, via the automatic service. As data source and archive partners make changes that effect the DataParser processing, this expanded auto update feature allows clients to receive the latest versions with full support for products as they reach the market. For the automatic licensing and update functionality, the server on which the software is installed must have an external internet connection and access to the 17a-4.com domain and subdomains.
The DataParser has been designed to be modular in structure, light-weight and easy on resources. As a middleware product it can collect many different types of messaging, data streams, collaboration platforms and database content. Cisco Jabber, Bloomberg, Reuters Eikon Messenger, Microsoft SharePoint, Skype for Business and Skype for Business Online (formerly Lync and Lync Online) as well as many other regulated data sources can all be collected and controlled by the DataParser. This allows for a unified compliance policy and procedure for all regulated data. The DataParser can pull from any number of servers and fully integrates with Active Directory (AD). AD user groups can be specified for collection and output to multiple locations to conform to institutional compliance policies.
Designed to integrate easily into any existing infrastructure, the DataParser has various delivery options and can run multiple configurations for more complex environments. Microsoft continues to expand policy and procedure features with the recent addition of a Compliance Center, controlled through admin portals in Exchange and Office 365. As well, all the major email archives on the market have the necessary tools for discovery and supervision and are supported by the DataParser, allowing clients to leverage in house resources and keep compliance costs to a minimum. DataParser messages can go directly into a client’s Exchange or Office365 environment and/or to an email archive. The DataParser interfaces with virtually all major archiving technologies, both in-house and out-sourced.
17a-4's consulting team strongly recommends that all electronic forms of communication and collaboration are captured, normalized and archived for future compliance, e-Discovery or as a component of a corporation's knowledge strategy. Creating a normalized repository structure across data types offers optimal policy management and e-discovery procedures that can enable disposition rules, lessen storage concerns and mitigate litigation risk.
