Premiere Online Ticket Broker Amazon Tickets and Events Announces 2013 Los Angeles Dodgers Tickets Still Available
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) July 16, 2013 -- Just one month ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers were in last place in the NL West, staring at the prospect of a lost season.
A lot has changed since that time, starting with the surprising promotion of a raw yet ultra-talented outfielder named Yasiel Puig. Since his debut with the Dodgers on June 3, Los Angeles is 24-15, and are sitting just 2.5 games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the lead in the NL West. The 22-year-old phenom is batting .391 with eight home runs in 38 games in the majors, providing his team with a much-needed boost of energy and confidence.
As a result, “Puig-mania” is still in full effect in Los Angeles. The Dodgers had only a single home game in May top 50,000 fans in attendance, but have already topped that mark seven times since Puig made his debut.
According to Amazon Tickets and Events marketing manager Brent Larsen, the demand for Dodgers tickets in the second half of the season has risen markedly in that time span.
“Watching Puig play has become an event in L.A., and more people are coming out to the ballpark with him in the lineup,” Larsen said. “Some of that rise in attendance is because the Dodgers are winning, but Puig is one of the biggest reasons why they are winning games in the first place.”
The Dodgers lead the MLB in attendance at the break, with an average of 44,229 fans filling the seats for every home game. Fans are again flocking to Chavez Ravine the way they have for decades.
“Dodger Stadium is one of the most beautiful, historic ballparks in the entire country,” Larsen said. “When the Dodgers are playing well, there are few better places to watch baseball.”
Puig has created the most buzz, but even he has not been the most valuable Dodger. Clayton Kershaw is putting together another remarkable season on the mound, leading the majors with a 1.98 ERA. The 2011 Cy Young Award winner is the frontrunner for the honor again in 2013, and should rightfully be considered the best pitcher in the game.
Kershaw is hardly the only Dodgers pitcher to perform well in 2013, as both Zack Greinke and Hyun-Jin Ryu have each done well in their first seasons with the ballclub. The trade with the Marlins for RHP Ricky Nolasco should give the Dodgers one of the best starting rotations in the NL.
The offense is starting to come around as well. SS Hanley Ramirez, who has missed a significant chunk of the season on the disabled list, is in the midst of a scorching hot run of his own, batting .386 with eight home runs in just 39 games. LF Carl Crawford is back healthy as well, giving L.A. a potent leadoff hitter in front of Puig.
1B Adrian Gonzalez has been steady all year, batting .297 with 14 homers and 59 RBIs, missing out on an All-Star bid in the same vote as Puig. If Matt Kemp is able to make it back completely healthy, the Dodgers could have one of the most dangerous offenses in the league as well.
The Dodgers are going to need to stay hot in order to catch the Diamondbacks in the tightly-bunched NL West, and Puig is likely to slow down from his breathtaking pace. But with better injury luck, a wealth of talent and the best starting pitcher in the game, Dodgers tickets should remain a hot commodity in the City of Angels.
